My Final Exam in 1st Year of Medical University

The Final of the First

My Final Exam in 1st Year of Medical University

The days in the Private Study Period were really boring. School closed, tuitions closed, the heavy rain, the political crackdown, so there were no internet connection, no network game, and especially, no short message service and the GSM network didn’t work well. I really hate being alone at home, studying. Seeing and hearing various news, I was so confused that whether the exam would be held or it would be postponed. Not only had I, all of my friends also felt that uncertainties we had never experienced before, not knowing what to do. Fortunately (or unfortunately) the exam was about to be held in 4th of October as it was planned before, and the Practical Test in 18th. But I didn’t care, I’d learned enough, studied and passed all Theory and Practical tests. I was ready to pass 1st year, but with not high marks.

The Theory Test

Chemistry - 4th October

The first day was the most exciting day. It was held in the medical university of senior year students, located in the downtown area. The exam starts at 1pm so I had enough time to cram in the whole morning. My dad and relatives phoned and encouraged me. But I hadn’t finished my studies and I didn’t have time to eat or talk.

Unlike the ones we’d had before, this exam was more special, serious and scary. The cold teaching theatre was used as the exam room. The sitting plan made our friends and me so much far apart, and the faces of examiners seemed that they would never forget us. But as soon as I saw the question paper, I could managed to calm down coz it was quite easy to pass, but hard to get distinction (for me). It wasn’t a problem.

Physics and Mathematics – 5th October

I needed to rush. It was combination of two. I had to put an equal effort on both subjects. After these subjects, I was quite relieved that my least favorites were gone. I was so tired and sleep then, coz of the exam pressures.

Really thanked that Saturday and Sunday, we had to retreat before next subjects. It was the shortest weekend I had ever had.

Botany & Zoology – 8th October

I was thirsty. My mouth was tired. I had to memorize as much as I could. I didn’t want to be unlucky. So as to carry them all into the exam room, I had to repeat as many times as I could. Then what I saw on the question paper was what I had known.

English – 9th October

I left some medical terminology coz I wouldn’t get too much from it. I’d been so annoyed that I’d already known that there wasn’t anything special to memorize for English subject. Serious care and concentration on reading comprehension and grammar, and some effective writing on referral letter and essay will carry the scores. The Essays were about “Advantages and Disadvantages of Being Rich” and “My experience in university 1st year”. I chose the first coz our 1st year medical students’ life has no special experience.

Myanmar – 10th October

One remarkable type of question was Alphabetical arranging of given words. I experienced the names of 20 types of awful disease names in Myanmar language. The given heading of the Myanmar Essay was “My Ambition”. How funny!! No other than to be a Doctor. Is there anyone who’s wasting the time in the medical university?

Anyway, only practical test was left then. I was about to play network games with my friends on the next day. We still had a week before the practical test.

Practical Test

Actually, the practical test wasn’t important for us. We’d done well in the Theory Test. But Practical Test is interesting, coz we could get the feeling of university students’ life from it. I really like Practical, Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology, much more than the Text Books. I answered those four subjects quite well, but not very much great. I was really annoyed for taking the exam for nearly one month. This is usual, all medical students have to take the exam for the whole month, and coz the studies are too much.

October, the month of the exam, had passed away……

Our memories in the 1st year of medical university had left behind…

Started from the day of Fresher Welcome Ceremony……

Ended in the day when The Exam Results came out……

Changing the template into Web 2.0 style

Now I've finished the exam. I'll write the post about the exam later. The first thing I wanna do is to change the blog's template. It's really hard to find my favourite template. Even hard to find the compatible web 2.0 style. I'll be adding the widgets later.

The Second Theory Test in 1st M.B.B.S Course, Yangon

The Second Theory Test in 1st M.B.B.S Course, Yangon

My Exam XP 3

It’s from 27th to 31st August, 2007 (Too bad, five days in a row)

Before

It’s important, we’d to grab as many marks as we could, so that these would be carried over to the final exam, on 4th October, 2007. There isn’t much time for us to reach the final. I really don’t know what I should do. But I am so sad that I didn’t have a chance to create some nice moments.

27th August – Chemistry

It’s the toughest subject, the most exciting and challenging. Really brain-storming. The exam was from 1pm to 3pm. Hoping that I could study the whole morning, I didn’t do all before that night. But actually, I was so depressed that morning couldn’t have enough concentration to do them. That’s the wicked pressure of chemistry. Standing at the entrance of the exam room named E2, the same as in the first test, I saw someone who I hadn’t seen for a week. But nothing was no important than the exam. The word exam had taken up full space of my memory. Liked no other. Chemistry questions were risky, I could get zero or full marks for each question. I ignored logarithm book. I couldn’t smile after the exam, like others. Being struck by the first, as in the previous exams. I want to know why. We had to go through the whole exam moments, with wounds in our soul.

28th August – Physics and Maths

Physics and Maths, being planned to answer within two hours, were really harassing. We had rushed between different types of problems. There weren’t many problems, except there was no answer for some problems. And optical application diagrams I drew for Physics looked really funny. My favorite categories were Electricity and light, got acceptable answers. I left the exam room, alone. I felt quite relieved; my weakest subjects had gone, but still worrying that I might get poor marks.

29th August – Botany and Zoology

The most acceptable, the most medical, the most useful, the most meaningful two subject in the 1st year course of the University. I really like them, having not many difficulties in them. I had to read and memorize as my throat drying up. But I wasn’t only me. Medical subjects were not too risky, just to write down what we’d absorbed in our head. Thought I didn’t make a deadly mistake. But my hands got really tired, after writing as fast as I could but I left the lower part of one of the answers. The question also had choices. That’s why I like. It’s so fair and square for dummies like us. Botany Multiple Choice Questions were easy, but Zoology MCQs made me dizzy, since they were the Professor’s Power. In the end of the mid day, I regained my halcyon condition as rush hours had left behind. For the rest subjects, there was nothing to worry.

I was thinking about playing DOTA games with my friends at the last day of the exam, happily.

30th August – English

My favorite subject ever, I usually get something nice in this subject. The only one thing I tried to memorize was the Medical Terminology. With enjoyable quests, I was quite happy, but I was sure that I don’t know all the things. I also managed to write an attractive essay (in my opinion). The title was “The Pros and Cons of Living in a City”. So many thoughts seeped out from my memory, but it wasn’t possible to write all them down.

I was checking my essay and immersed in the feelings of my words and writing styles, idioms and examples. I heard a sweet voice “I’m going”, saying to me. That type of sound wave reached into the deepest place of my mind. I don’t know why…

31st August – Myanmar

I was so bored. I didn’t want to study, just hoping the end of the exam. Not caring about things to answer. The atmosphere in the school was something different, because of being the last day. I just put ordinary effort, in two long questions, translation from English to Myanmar (Funny) and an essay. I wrote >6<>

At the end, we (I and my closest friends) were heading for reserved DOTA network game corner. With happiest thoughts and mind, we bragged, teased, insulted, and swore each other, playing the most performing game for us.

End

My Physics Practical

My Physics Practical Test and the Sonometer

I had to sit for Physics practical test on 14th August, Tuesday.

I prepared to wear shirt and pants, coz the test includes viva voce. Stepping up to the 1st floor, my emotion wasn't quite regular, though it's the second practical test. I had stayed at home whole day before the test, not doing anything. Had a chat with friends, and heard the voice calling the students. Wishing for the best, I chose a card from the table, truned it, read the number. It was 33. Anyway, I felt good for getting that number. Walking through the main door, I discovered the table containing the apparatus, number 33. I hoped for refracting glasses and pins, but what I saw was quite different. A wooden colored long box, a long string, a iron hanger; showed that it was a SONOMETER. I felt nothing special, thought it's much better than weird electric circuit of Ohm's Law Apparatus. But I wished for those who got to take Ohm's Law Test. Checking the apparatus and stuffs, I found that I was given a different weight for string tension. The given tuning forks are so new. With a lighter tension, I was sweating while striking those tuning forks. Experimental data, but my graph wasn't so straight, but I could handle. The calculated data was greatly different from what we practised, a challanging one, not knowing whether my data was in the correct range or not. Lucky that I met with a kind teacher, an easy viva voce. The calculated data is quite strange, but I didn't have time for a complete check. I ended up writing my procedures, precautions and conclusions 20 minutes ahead. Then I went out of the department. I did well except my datas are not quite exact. Then I was pressed again by the 2nd Theory test, from 27th to 31st August.

EXam TiPs 4U

If you're going to go down, go down with style. Failing your final exam can actually be an amusing experience, depending on what you make of it. Here are some suggestions...

Bring a pillow. Fall asleep (or pretend to) until the last 15 minutes. Wake up, say "oh geez, better get cracking" and do some gibberish work. Turn it in a few minutes early.

Get a copy of the exam, run out screaming "Andre, Andre, I've got the secret documents!!"

If it is a math/science exam, answer in essay form. If it is long answer/essay form, answer with numbers and symbols. Be creative. Use the integral symbol.
Make paper airplanes out of the exam. Aim them at the instructor's left nostril.
Talk the entire way through the exam. Read questions aloud, debate your answers with yourself out loud. If asked to stop, yell out, "I'm SOOO sure you can hear me thinking." Then start talking about what a jerk the instructor is.

Bring cheerleaders.

Walk in, get the exam, sit down. About five minutes into it, loudly say to the instructor, "I don't understand ANY of this. I've been to every lecture all semester long! What's the deal? And who the hell are you? Where's the regular guy?"

Bring a Game Boy (or Game Gear, etc...). Play with the volume at max level.
On the answer sheet (book, whatever) find a new, interesting way to refuse to answer every question. For example: I refuse to answer this question on the grounds that it conflicts with my religious beliefs. Be creative.

Bring pets.

Run into the exam room looking about frantically. Breathe a sigh of relief. Go to the instructor, say "They've found me, I have to leave the country" and run off.
Fifteen minutes into the exam, stand up, rip up all the papers into very small pieces, throw them into the air and yell out "Merry Christmas." If you're really daring, ask for another copy of the exam. Say you lost the first one. Repeat this process every fifteen minutes.

Do the exam with crayons, paint, or fluorescent markers.

Come into the exam wearing a pair of birkenstocks, and nothing else.

Come down with a BAD case of Tourette's Syndrome during the exam. Be as vulgar as possible.

Do the entire exam in another language. If you don't know one, make one up! For math/science exams, try using Roman numerals.

Bring things to throw at the instructor when s/he's not looking. Blame it on the person nearest to you.

As soon as the instructor hands you the exam, eat it.

Walk into the exam with an entourage. Claim you are going to be taping your next video during the exam. Try to get the instructor to let them stay, be persuasive.

Tell the instructor to expect a percentage of the profits if they are allowed to stay.
Every five minutes, stand up, collect all your things, move to another seat, continue with the exam.

Turn in the exam approximately 30 minutes into it. As you walk out, start commenting on how easy it was.

Do the entire exam as if it was multiple choice and true/false. If it is a multiple choice exam, spell outinteresting things (DCCAB, BABE, etc..).
Bring a black marker. Return the exam with all questions and answers completely blacked out.

Get the exam. Twenty minutes into it, throw your papers down violently, scream out "Screw this!" and walk out triumphantly.

Arrange a protest before the exam starts (i.e. Threaten the instructor that whether or not everyone's done, they are all leaving after one hour to go drink).
Show up completely drunk. (Completely drunk means at some point during the exam, you start to hold your mouth and make "I'm about to bring something up" sounds.).

Every now and then, clap twice rapidly. If the instructor asks why, tell him/her in a very derogatory tone, "the light bulb that goes on above my head when I get an idea is hooked up to a clapper. DUH!"

Comment on how sexy the instructor is looking that day.

Come to the exam wearing a black cloak. After about 30 minutes, put on a white mask and start yelling "I'm here, the phantom of the opera" until they drag you away.

Go to an exam for a class you have no clue about, where you know the class is very small, and the instructor would recognize you if you belonged. Claim that you have been to every lecture. Fight for your right to take the exam.

Upon receiving the exam, look it over, while laughing loudly, say "you don't really expect me to waste my time on this drivel? Days of our Lives is on!!!"

Bring a water pistol with you. Nuff said.

From the moment the exam begins, hum the theme to Jeopardy. Ignore the instructor's requests for you to stop. When they finally get you to leave one way or another, begin whistling the theme to the Bridge on the River Kwai.

Start a brawl in the middle of the exam.

If the exam is math/science related, make up the longest proofs you could possibly think of. Get pi and imaginary numbers into most equations.

Come in wearing a full knight's outfit, complete with sword and shield.

Bring a friend to give you a back massage the entire way through the exam. Insist this person is needed, because you have bad circulation.

Bring cheat sheets FROM ANOTHER CLASS (make sure this is obvious... like history notes for a calculus exam... otherwise you're not just failing, you're getting kicked out, too) and staple them to the exam with the comment "Please use the attached notes for references as you see fit."

When you walk in, complain about the heat. Strip.

After you get the exam, call the instructor over, point to any question, ask for the answer. Try to work it out of him/her.

One word: Wrestlemania.
Bring balloons, blow them up, start throwing them around like they do before concerts start.

Try to get people in the room to do the wave.
Play Frisbee with a friend at the other side of the room.
Bring some large, cumbersome, ugly idol. Put it right next to you. Pray to it often. Consider a small sacrifice.

Get deliveries of candy, flowers, balloons, telegrams, etc... sent to you every few minutes throughout the exam.

During the exam, take apart everything around you. Desks, chairs, anything you can reach.

Complete the exam with everything you write being backwards at a 90 degree angle.

Bring a musical instrument with you, play various tunes. If you are asked to stop, say "it helps me think." Bring a copy of the Student Handbook with you, challenging the instructor to find the section on musical instruments during finals. Don't forget to use the phrase "Told you so".

Answer the exam with the "Top Ten Reasons Why My Professor Sucks".

my exam experience 2

25,26,27,29 June, 2007 days are challenging exam days of Medical subjects; Anatomy, Anatomy Practical, Physiology and Biochemistry. I got too much of remarkable experience.

My Medical Exam Experience (2nd XP, my thoughts)

Within about 2 months, we’ve got a lot to learn. For me, the level of these subjects is quite high.

**Days before exam**

Subjects are interesting but quite boring. With the help of Biochemistry tutorials and a nice biochemistry tutorial teacher, I had no problem in BC (biochemistry). Even I got pass marks in all tutorials tests. No absent in tutorial class, it’s great.
Physiology tuition teacher had changed, with changed teaching methods, I got little difficulties. Only thing I needed is to read the book repeatedly, just like reading a book such as Harry Potter Books Series.
Anatomy wasn’t ok. Coz tuition teacher left our country, new teacher’s teaching methods are really difficult to adapt. Less interest in it, not attending lectures regularly, notes not complete, and so I really ignored it. Also histology sketches are poor (this isn’t my fault; color pencils I used are bad).

Like this, the exam had come, furiously.

At the night before that day, I exchanged messages with friends and what she replied to me was she was so confused and didn’t remember anything then. Everyone said not ready.

What I’ve learned on my own is that even clever and well-studied students always say that they are not ready for exam, and they don’t know anything about the exam. But when the results come out, they are always on top.

25th June – Anatomy

It was too much to learn. My head was not fresh enough to absorb the whole book (within a very very short period of time). I concentrated mainly on the questions that our tuition teachers said, though I knew they weren’t really sure, there was nothing to choose at that time. Sitting at the study table, eyes looking at the book, saying the words repeatedly from my lips, but I got nothing. It was so difficult for me to catch up my flying thoughts, scattered throughout the whole sky. Looking at a second hand of the clock, I felt I was pressed more and more. For multiple choice questions, preparation was nearly nothing. I managed to bring my student ID card to school. The room named S 7 was our tough battlefield, where I was sitting there with nothing prepared. My place was quite near from the entrance, that’s bad, uneasy to concentrate. During the period of Multiple Choice Questions, which were like a lucky draw in the exam, I was sweating, both my body and the weather was hot that day. Also because of a really new method of answering, and a carried over minus system. Seeing the Multiple Short Questions (actually they are quite long), I couldn’t believe my eyes, felt quite annoyed. I’d already known that there would be a choice on three portions. In the portion of the thing called Histology, both questions were practically different from what our teacher gave. It was too late then. I collected some pieces which were concerned with the nasty organ ““spleen”” and wrote down with my own words. After that, I was talking and messaging with my friends all about the defects of the exam, our teacher, our bad luck and the bitter experience. I’ve found that we are not unfamiliar with that type of exam systems, new for us. So we have to understand those terms and conditions so that we can handle them well. Another day to prepare was Anatomy practical. Anyway, passed thing had passed. (I don’t mean that I am sure to pass). With symptoms of failure everywhere, I wasn’t able to continue studying. In the evening, there was a little luck for me coz I received the list of diagrams to study, filled with full notes, from someone. Thanked her for that.

26th June – Anatomy Practical

I was watching the Histology slides that morning, almost all are pink and purple stained, difficult to distinguish between them. Too much diagrams up to above 100, labels are not specific, not seeing clearly, that was really bad. And embryology diagrams are complicated, becoming harder stage by stage. I was quite late when I reached school, but it wasn’t a problem, just still differentiating the students into three groups, it was quite funny that the examiners looked angry then. Maybe they might be tired. Stepping into the hall, seeing the sitting plan, I was so relieved and allayed coz I was placed beside a smart, studious girl, actually there was nothing to surprise; xx7 is always next to xx6. At that time, what I was thinking was that there’s no chance to fail in the exam, with great friends around. All of us did well except that awful picture, a type of genetic disorder, we hadn’t even seen that before coz we missed lecture classes. One of the examiners was so outstanding in grabbing the answer sheet from students, what he did so fast, having to time to discuss with a friend. In the end of two anatomies, I was thinking of how nice if it was the end of all.

27th June – Physiology

Having pains within the days of Anatomy, then I never wanted to choose, I decided to read every word in the text book, even though I didn’t recognize all. A friend was about to tell me some spots, but I didn’t reply. I was just reading the text then, only to know the process so that I prepared to write them in my own words in the exam. I knew there wouldn’t be enough time and had to hurry on Multiple Choices. After sitting a while in the canteen, I went to the exam room. Seeing the examiner, I and my friends were depressed. Coz she is quite strict, not allowing the students to step even near the entrance of the room. And also they took my mobile phone, but I’d already turned it off. I answered all questions, with my own words, hoped it would be acceptable. Physiology tutorials results had come that evening. I passed, getting 60% of total. As my eyes moved to a roll number next to me, I saw 80%. Having one holiday during days, was so nice, I could rest my soul, by playing a game.

28 June – I touched my biochemistry text book at 7pm at night, and then electricity went out.

29th June – Biochemistry

That day was the last day, with longer exam duration, 3 hrs. Being the last day and with the help of previous tutorials, I was in the safe side, not worrying to fail. There were ten long questions, but I had enough time coz I took little time in Multiple Choices. I felt quite bored, writing the words. I asked for three extra sheets. Nothing particular happened, coz examiner teachers were better than last days. The exam ended peacefully, with signs of happiness among the medical university (a failure doesn’t matter for medical student). I left the school, thinking of ……… coming challenges with more difficulties …………

My mid term exam XP

There was already a practical test before this one. I'll never forget it and I'll write if I have enough time. >^,,^<

**The 1st test XP in Medical University** (from my side only)

It's a midterm exam, from 3rd to 9th May. 2007.

3rd May

With an odius alarm alert from my mobile phone, got up with mess in mind and prepared to revise all Chemistry notes. weather was so calm (made me feel seriously), not very hot (unlike before, a cyclone coming next day). Didn't catch all in my memory, some were still left in books (so regretful). Went to school for the first time since April Fool (nothing had developed, nothing changed). Chatting with friends, couldn't read anything. At 10:00 am, I was sitting in the exam room with nothing in my head. A Mutiple Choice for 30 minutes (I'll be lucky if I got half out of all!). Inorganic Section, not very bad, I did well. Organic section (only 30 minutes left), felt like being in the :( I was lost within the equation maze.At 12pm, I went out from room regretfully then, found that :( people >> :) people. Ok, most difficult subject (for me coz I went to Web Design Course without going to Chemistry Tuition) had left behind...... (but meeting again in Final Exam). Started Study for another day at 8pm at night. (time is so short)

4th May

Thought today is much easier but actually, it wasn't. Seeing the intense rain drops, I couldn't study, just thinking of....... I didn't wanna go to school, but I had to. After studying as much as I can (so little), went to school (had prepared both raincoat and umbrella). The school area was almost flooded, so awful, dirty, filled with mess. The rain was so so heavy, thought that was a cyclone symbol for incoming rainy season in Yangon. I was the one who opened the door of the exam room (named E2), because I was so nervous. Talking with a friend, I could managed myself, I think. Fighting with Multiple Choice Questions, light went out (so good for us, but I did nothing, honestly). Physics was quite easier then, I did better. But Mathematics, I couldn't. (sitting for two subjects for that day). Raindrops disturbed me whole day, so dull. With two days left for next subjects (Sat. & Sun.) thanking to the teachers, went for DOTA game with a friend. (Actually I was so dull at DOTA, I mean the one that's called "e-sports" in other countries)

Forgot everything during Saturday and Sunday (the shortest weekend I've ever had)

The night before botany and zoology exam ,

Chelsea vs Arsenal, it was a draw, Man U are 2006-07 EPL champions. Didn't have enough time to sleep, but it's ok I was happy. Difficult MCQs came 1st and long questions (Any Two, it's great. If not, I might fail the exam). Went DOTA with a friend because the remaining subjects are English and Myanmar, no problem ;).

May 8

I have enough confidence in English coz I got >>>85<<<>

May 9

Myanmar, the last sauciest one. I got up at 4am and started cramming!! I could memorise well coz I was fresh enough (lucky! my memory is still reliable!!). Went to school, talk with intimate friends, telling each other about averything else. (We became closer, not knowing good or not, but I like that). Wrote so many things as if my hands were breaking down. I just finished 10 minutes ahead 12pm. (heyy the examiner is quite strict we couldn't.......you know)

In the end, some boys went for DOTA network game, some went for the movie named "Ket Kinn" (I hate cinemas in Yangon, I hate that kind of atmosphere!). Then I chose to sit in a PAC near my house.........
